Applications

Applying and what happens next

Who can submit an application?

The initial Money Trumpet requirement is that an applicant is aged 18 or over and a permanent UK resident. Every eventual recipient also applies its own eligibility, verification, creditworthiness and affordability criteria.

Does applying guarantee that I will receive a loan?

No. An application does not guarantee acceptance, a particular interest rate, specific terms or that funds will be provided. The recipient is responsible for its checks and final decision.

Does Money Trumpet carry out a credit search?

No. Money Trumpet does not carry out a credit search. A lender or broker receiving an application may carry out its own search and should explain whether it is a soft or hard search and how it may affect the applicant’s credit file.

What happens after an application is submitted?

After successful transmission, the recipient may contact the applicant directly for final checks and any additional information. The on-screen confirmation only confirms receipt; it does not mean that the application has been accepted or approved.

Is application information stored in WordPress?

No. The planned application journeys will send the information to the approved recipient without retaining the submission in WordPress. The forms will remain inactive until secure routing, privacy wording, non-storage and failure handling have been approved and tested.

Which application form should I use?

Personal, bad credit and online loan pages share the Personal Loan Application. Secured loans, guarantor loans and commercial mortgages each use a separate form because they require different information.

Product and responsibility questions

Can I apply if I am unemployed or receive benefits?

Employment status or receiving benefits does not by itself guarantee approval or refusal. Acceptable income types and evidence requirements vary between recipients, which will consider the applicant’s individual circumstances.

Read our information about loans for unemployed people and loans for people on benefits.

What does being a guarantor involve?

A guarantor is not simply a reference. They may become responsible for repayments if the borrower does not pay. The recipient must explain the commitment and conduct its own separate assessment before any legal guarantee is completed.

What is the main risk of a secured loan?

A secured loan is connected to property. The property may be repossessed if repayments are not maintained. Applicants should understand the full costs, terms and consequences before entering an agreement.

How are commercial mortgage enquiries handled?

Money Trumpet collects initial business, property and finance information and passes the enquiry to a potential recipient. Money Trumpet does not perform a valuation, assess the enquiry, advise on the mortgage or make the decision.

Where can I get help if repayments are difficult?

Contact the lender or provider as soon as possible if you think you may miss a payment. Free, impartial information is available from MoneyHelper.

Remember: Late repayment can cause serious money problems. Compare the complete cost, repayment schedule and available alternatives before taking out credit.
